Goal: Recognize each individual voice in your head. Recognize that there are several. Identify who is talking when and why.
There are so many voices in our head. Old memories, old feelings, favorite lines from movies, new friends, new lenses, all sounding off.
To be productive, to feel safe, to stay grounded, we must recognize each individual voice in our head as a seperate piece of us.
Every part of our being does not need to be active at every point in the day. Sometimes the old competitive athlete in us from high school needs to make an appearance. Sometimes the young child in us needs to be benched, and put in his or her place.
I welcome all of me in every season, however, not every piece of me is fit for rainy days.
Embrace you. But don’t allow yourself to become an enemy to your health, future, or happiness.
It is heavily romanticized to be the chaotic, disorganized, emotionally unkempt person. However, the most successful people, the most content people, and the most down-to-earth people are the most regulated. It’s a fun story to tell that you never quite got hinged, but it’s an awful story to live.
If we want to finish strong- and we DO, we must cling to things that bring good fruits, and that bear good fruits without toil and misery.
Begin to romanticize, and see the beauty in having order within when you recognize each individual voice.
Isolate each part of your personality, each piece of yourself, and give them assigned seats. We have to learn ORDER WITHIN and embrace that. No one wants to hop on a rollercoaster that never ends.
Reflection
Are you personally familiar with each individual voice in your head?
Do they introduce themselves to you? Have you invited each individual voice in your head to your home? Or do they just show up?
Which voice is the loudest in your head?
Which voice is in charge of your decision making?
What part of you never gets to see the light of day?
