If you want something, write it down!
The most honest you will ever be, is when you’re writing. Writing is a relationship between your persepective- the lenses in which you see the world through, your thought process and stream of conciousness. It reveals how you get from point A to B. If you were to write something alongside someone else, then it would not reflect you- it’d reflect the two of you.
Unlike many artforms, there is no glory in rewriting what has already been written- like singing a song that’s been sung, or painting a classic painting. To merely scribble down the exact words someone else wrote, is useless and underwhelming (being generous here).
Writing is all about originality. It could be the same plot, same character names, same setting- perhaps even the same journey, but the expression must be different. It must be true to the one holding the pen.
The only way it you can achieve this originality is to be transparent, and specific. Broad ideas resound over intercoms, but intricate ones are only spoken on the pillowcases at night. Allow your words to reflect the world that is in your head, and the way you see the world outside of it.
When writing personal pieces, letters, diary entries, where is the honor in being unoriginal? Where is the use in being dishonest or partially truthful?
The universe was created with words. Original words.
Words paint pictures. Words create worlds. God left us a book of words- not pictures.
The most honest you will ever be is on paper. If you want something, write it down.
Part of our stagnation in our lives- with our relationships, money, character or health, is that we have not yet been honest with ourselves. We haven’t yet told God what we really want, who we truly desire to be.
The most honest you will ever be is on paper. No one to correct you, manage you, or interrupt you. The pen is in relationship with your heart. Either light or darkness will come out. Either strength or weakness will reveal itself. Either honesty or dishonesty will flood the pages.
Habakkuk 2:2 And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
Write it down with expectations. You are what you believe. Writing with faith and certainty impacts your beliefs, which drastically impact your actions! When you write it down, you create the first physical piece of evidence of your future.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
